Technology & Research Partnerships

Battery Pollution is ambitious to work with the world’s best scientific minds to better understand the challenges posed by battery waste and to invest with the intent of achieving commercialisation. Together we need to deal with this issue and provide our kids with a cleaner environment in which to grow & thrive.


Our areas of research & commercialisation interest vary as do the partners with whom we seek to collaborate.  

 

We believe that the issues created by battery pollution will  increase dramatically in the period to 2030 and as such seek visionaries who can see solutions for the planet.   


These are the individuals that not only our Company Battery Pollution is keen to collaborate with – but we believe Governments, NGOs and communities in general should be encouraging. 


We are interested in particular at very early stage ideas, ventures & entrepreneurs and strive to support the development of technical concepts with capital, commercial guidance and commercial opportunity.  


Our funding and commercialisation programme is specifically targeting: 

  • Universities & academic institutions – including Technical Schools & Colleges 
  • Accelerators & Incubators that have a focus on battery materials & battery recycling 
  • Venture capital firms that are struggling with aspects of commercialisation in investments they have already made 
  • Academics, including PhD & Post Graduate Degree Students 
  • Entrepreneurs, including scientists and businesspeople 


Our funding and commercialisation programme is also specifically targeting a number of scientific areas including technologies that will: 

  • Introduce more effective approaches to recycling Lithium batteries 
  • Improve the physical process of recycling various battery classes – including through more mobile recycling plants 
  • Allow more environmentally friendly batteries to be produced, be that by packaging, chemical composition or other approach 
  • Improve the ability of recovering critical rare metals which are used in battery manufacture 
  • Extend the useable life of batteries – reducing the requirement / timeline to recycling 
  • Introduce new thinking on the approach to recycling corroding batteries – in particular in the oceans, river systems and landfills 
  • Recycling approaches to treat “toxic soups” that are produced in landfills from battery contamination 
  • Improve techniques of recycling lead acid batteries
